Cute as Hook

Hi Everyone and welcome to my new blog.

This is going to be my place to share my Crochet projects, whether they be ones from customers (unless they are secret, shhhh!), the ones I give as gifts or the ones I do just for fun.

I will also share my photography that I take whilst I am out and about, I use both my iPhone and my Nikon D300 DSLR, so it will be a mixture.

I spend a lot of time searching the internet for crochet patterns, inspiration and ways to blow my pay cheque and I will also be showing you what I find!

I hope you enjoy what you find, please leave a comment, if you have a blog, leave me your link and I'll come and have a look.

For those of you who’ve been asking me how I do my lettering on my hoops, here’s a time-lapse I did of one awhile ago.
About 1:30 in I write on thin lined paper how I want the letters to look, pencil first, then pen. I usually trace the curve of the hoop too to make sure it curves with it. Then I pin it down and embroider right through the paper and follow my lines as closely as I can. Then when I’m finished I carefully pull out the paper from underneath.
Any other questions I’d be happy to answer, they’re no secret.

Crochet Gif Tutorials: The Foundation Chain / Foundation Single Crochet

The Foundation Chain is an alternative to the starting chain. It makes the starting chain, and a row of sc’s, all in one go. It can be tricky to pick up, but once you’ve mastered it you probably wont go back to the old method! I like it because it gives you a better indication of the finished size of your project, and it’s stretchy!
